Labor Day has come and gone but guess what… this is Florida!  Unlike the rest of the country, we don’t have the “no white after Labor Day” dilemma and we still want a cool and refreshing cocktail after a seemingly long (but actually short) work week.  Seeing as it’s still 90 degrees in Tampa Bay I am longing for a great happy hour beverage to kick-start my weekend. I’m in the mood for a crisp white sangria because frankly sangria just makes me happy – as does anything involving wine.  Without question, a great sangria starts with a great wine, followed by a few easy ingredients.
A favorite white sangria recipe of uDream Events is Emeril Lagasse’s Sangria Blanco
Recipe:
  • 2 (750-ml) bottles white Spanish wine, such as Albarino (Galacia), Viura (Rioja), Verdejo (Rueda), or Sauvignon Blanc
  • 1/2 cup Spanish brandy
  • 1/4 cup Spanish orange liqueur
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 1/2 cup superfine sugar
  • 1/2 cup sliced fresh strawberries
  • 1/2 orange, halved and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 lemon, halved and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 plum, pit removed and sliced into thin wedges
  • 1/2 peach, pit removed and sliced into thin wedges
  • 1 (10-ounce) bottle club soda, chilled
** If you’re from up north (like me!) and want to embrace a little fall spirit, substitute the strawberries for some apples and add a cinnamon stick!
I am cheers-ing you all to a wonderful weekend as I smugly relish in my post-labor day white shorts and white sangria…

What is your go-to drink to wash down the work week?
