Happy Thirsty Thursday! Living in Florida you really have to go out of your way to emphasize the seasons so here are some fall libations to help you embrace autumn! Your Instagram feed may be inundated with Pumpkin Spice Latte picture but I promise there aren’t any pumpkin spice offerings in this blog*.

Ginger Gold Rush

This is truly a cocktail made for fall in the south. A modern twist on a whiskey sour, the ginger liqueur creates spicy notes that play well with an oaky bourbon. Strain your concoction into a martini glass over a brandied cherry for a beautiful autumn color. I can picture drinking a Ginger Gold Rush on a cool fall evening with my husband, exchanging stories from ‘the good ol’ days’. To be fair to reality, I don’t have a porch or a husband… but I can still enjoy a Ginger Gold Rush!

The Canadian Cocktail

Apple cider is one of my fall must-haves along with boots which, since my Florida residency, have shifted to a winter must-have. There are plenty of ways to “spice up” (puns are awful) apple cider and adding spiced rum is certainly a great start. In addition to the rum, a sweet and sour collaboration of maple syrup and lime juice is just intriguing enough for me to give The Canadian Cocktail a go.

The Long Hello

Everyone loves a long goodbye so why shouldn’t it be the same for The Long Hello, especially in liquid form!? St. Germain, which is an elderflower liqueur, actually has a base of pear brandy which compliments both the apple brandy and the champagne in this fall cocktail. The Long Hello, which was originally created for a wedding toasted is topped with champagne and grated nutmeg for an autumnal feeling. Champagne makes everything better, so even if you’re not getting married you can indulge in The Long Hello!
